Cookies.

The minimum needed to run the site — and nothing else without your permission.

What cookies are

Cookies are small files a site stores on your device. We also use equivalent browser storage (localStorage) for the same purposes. This page covers both.

Your choice

On your first visit we ask before setting anything beyond strictly necessary storage. Declining is one click, exactly like accepting, and nothing about the site changes if you decline. You can revisit the decision whenever you like — turning analytics back off also deletes the analytics cookies already on your device.

What we set

Strictly necessary

Always on

Required for the site to load, keep your session secure, and remember your theme and cookie choice. These cannot be switched off.

  • hd-theme-v2Remembers light or dark appearanceRetention: Persistent
  • hd-cookie-consent-v1Stores your cookie choiceRetention: 12 months
  • sb-*-auth-tokenKeeps an admin signed inRetention: Session

Analytics

Off until you allow it

Google Analytics 4, loaded only after you allow it, so we can see which pages and articles are useful. IP addresses are truncated and we never send names, emails, or form contents.

  • _ga, _ga_*Distinguishes visitors and sessionsRetention: Up to 24 months

Marketing

Off until you allow it

Reserved for advertising and remarketing tags. We do not run any today — leaving this off changes nothing, and it stays off unless you allow it.

Third parties

The only third-party cookies on this site come from Google Analytics 4 (and Google Tag Manager, which loads it), and only after you allow the analytics category. We run these with IP anonymisation and never pass names, email addresses, or form contents to Google. We do not sell data and we do not run advertising tags.

Managing cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies from its privacy settings, independently of the choice you make here. Blocking strictly necessary storage may stop parts of the site — such as remembering your theme or keeping you signed in — from working.
